About the Role

The Industry Advisor - Utilities is a senior advisory role responsible for shaping industry strategy, strengthening executive relationships, and aligning sales, engineering, and business development efforts within the utilities vertical to drive sustainable growth. This role operates at the intersection of deep domain expertise in utility operations and technology environments and enterprise solution strategy, positioning WWT as a trusted advisor while supporting strategic opportunity development and long-term client value.

A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to engage effectively across utility stakeholder levels—from engineers and architects to senior operational and business leaders—contributing to vertical capability development and serving as a credible industry presence.

Responsibilities

  • Industry Strategy & Client Engagement
    • Develop and apply deep understanding of utility industry priorities, trends, and regulatory drivers to inform customer engagement and solution positioning.
    • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with utility executives and key stakeholders to support long-term account strategy and sustained business value.
    • Support strategic opportunity development by aligning customer needs with WWT capabilities.
  • Sales & Account Alignment
    • Collaborate with account managers and sales engineers to align industry strategy with account planning and pursuit activities.
    • Contribute to opportunity shaping, proposals, and customer engagements as a senior industry advisor.
    • Provide industry context and guidance to improve consistency and effectiveness across account teams.
    • Collaborate across teams and regions to reinforce a consistent vertical approach and support strategic business development priorities.
    • Provide industry advisory input during opportunity development to align proposed solutions with customer priorities, operational realities, and delivery expectations.
  • Solution & Portfolio Development
    • Apply enterprise architecture principles to solution positioning and customer engagement, ensuring proposed approaches are technically sound, operationally relevant, and aligned with customer strategy.
    • Provide industry-informed input into solution development and portfolio positioning across relevant technology domains, including networking, security, cloud, and OT environments.
    • Help translate utility use cases into repeatable solution approaches aligned with WWT capabilities.
  • Market Presence & Industry Engagement
    • Represent WWT in industry forums, conferences, and customer engagements to strengthen market presence and reinforce WWT’s position as a trusted industry advisor.
    • Develop and contribute content and points of view aligned with utility sector priorities and WWT strategic direction.
    • Maintain current awareness of utility industry regulatory, operational, and technology trends and apply that knowledge in customer and internal contexts.
  • Internal Enablement & Vertical Capability Development
    • Contribute to vertical capability development within the utilities vertical, ensuring industry expertise and operational knowledge are accessible and transferable across account teams and engineering resources.
    • Provide vertical and sector perspective and guidance to account teams, sales engineers, and internal stakeholders to reinforce a consistent and credible vertical approach.
    • Support alignment across business development, sales, and engineering teams through active participation in planning, enablement, and internal communications.

Qualifications

  • Experience
    • 10+ years of experience in utilities or closely related industries, with demonstrated understanding of industry operations, regulatory environment, and technology trends.
    • Demonstrated experience bridging business, operational, and technology perspectives in a consulting, advisory, or enterprise architecture capacity.
    • Experience engaging with utility stakeholders across IT, OT, and executive environments.
    • Background in Electric Utilities strongly preferred; Oil & Gas experience a plus.
  • Technical & Industry Knowledge
    • Strong working knowledge of utility-relevant technologies and platforms, including OT systems, networking, security, and cloud environments.
    • Familiarity with utility operational applications such as SCADA, EMS, ADMS, OMS, and DERMS; direct experience a plus.
    • Working knowledge of enterprise networking architectures including IP-MPLS, SD-WAN, Segment Routing, and private wireless (LTE/5G) a plus.
    • Ability to apply enterprise architecture principles to solution positioning and customer advisory work.
    • Ability to translate technical capabilities into business-relevant outcomes for utility customers.
  • Professional Skills
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across utility stakeholder levels, including senior leaders, engineers, architects, and operational personnel.
    • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
    • Strategic thinking with the ability to connect industry trends to actionable opportunities.
    • Ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements while maintaining strategic focus and prioritization.

Travel Requirements

Travel as required to support customer engagement, industry events, and business activities, with frequency and scheduling determined in alignment with business needs and role priorities.

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $150,000.00 to $180,000.00 annually. Actual salary will be based on factors such as shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure, certification, and business needs.
