About the role

Develops, administers and implements environmental programs in accordance with governmental requirements. Monitors wastewater treatment activities, compliance and auditing efforts. Conducts studies and experimental protocols and prepares SOPs to implement recommendations. Prepares data for environmental reports for plant processes and permit reporting. On a predetermined schedule, perform on-call computer monitoring from home during off-hours and weekends and respond to Emergency Callouts. Accepts delegation of Authority for Wastewater Operations Assoc. Manager during absences and off-times. Responds to spill incidents and provides leadership in containment and clean-up of materials to ensure safety of responding personnel and completeness of cleanup. Performs process and emergency sampling as required. Assists in the development of plant goals. Assists with troubleshooting treatment problems. Manages and maintains the wastewater operations lab including supplies, reagents, and sampling and analytical equipment. Implements and maintains a Quality Assurance/Quality Control lab program. Prepare and develop adequate scope of work and specifications as necessary for service subcontracts. Administers contracts, including: contractor management and coordination; ensuring work is preformed within specifications and schedules; reviewing and approving billing; badging and access; and budget management. Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents. Responsible for safety of self, others, materials, and equipment. Interacts with ESH; federal, state, and local regulators to resolve compliance issues; establishes permit requirements and assists in EPA, state and local regulatory audits. Represents company in government and industry rule-making activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Industrial Wastewater Class B with the ability to pursue Class A Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant License within 6 months, Class B CDL with X endorsement.
  • Relevant treatment Plant experience.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with government regulations: RCRA, OSHA, CWA and ability to learn any and all new or different regulations, etc.
  • Literate in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Power Point and SAP.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • Response time of thirty (30) minutes from residence to plant, regardless of weather.
  • Certified Collection System Class 2 License.
  • Experience in personnel development and supervision capabilities.

Skills

  • Familiarity with probe and spectrometric analytical procedures.
