Industrial Wastewater Staff Process Mechanical Engineer
About the role
Arcadis’ Industrial Water Treatment and Optimization (IWTO) team is seeking a mid-level Industrial Water Process Engineer with 5+ years of consulting engineering experience to contribute to our expanding portfolio of industrial water and wastewater related design projects.
Responsibilities
- Function as the process engineer on industrial water/wastewater projects
- Apply processes and technologies for physical/chemical primary treatment, biological treatment, membrane treatment, adsorption, filtration, disinfection, thermal evaporation and crystallization
- Receive technical mentoring and guidance from a senior process engineer
- Delegate engineering or scientific calculations/drawings to junior staff
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams to implement complex treatment solutions, and support implementation of projects from study phase through design, construction, startup and commissioning, and operation and maintenance of treatment systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively increasing responsibility in the industrial water/wastewater field
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or PhD in engineering or a related field of study with focus on wastewater treatment process engineering
- 7+ years of experience as a professional engineer registration in one or more states
Role Accountabilities
- Assist in developing and preparing process design drawings, specifications, calculations, plans, and other technical deliverables for a variety of industrial water projects
- Field work will be required, including but not limited to, surveys/data gathering, construction quality assurance, inspections, bench- and pilot-scale treatability testing (at client sites or in our lab in Cary, NC), etc.
- Assist with system commissioning and start-up, including training plant staff
- Prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional meetings
- Manage projects as necessary to meet both client and Arcadis’ expectations
- Supporting business development including proposal preparation and meetings with clients, and travel as needed for meetings, site visits, etc. (up to 25%)
Pay
The salary range for this position is $76,110 - $114,165. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
Schedule
This is a hybrid work position. Client facilities and projects are located throughout the US, with some international assignments. Preferred locations include Houston, Dallas, Raleigh, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Tampa, Denver, and Philadelphia; however, other locations may also be considered.
