About the role
The Industrial Trainer will be responsible for delivering engaging, hands-on training programs that equip production employees with essential measurement, tool handling, and blueprint reading skills. As an integral member of the HR team, the Trainer will play a key role in developing employees’ technical competencies while reinforcing safety and quality best practices. The Industrial Trainer will also work collaboratively with various departments to promote a culture of continuous improvement in both quality and safety.
Responsibilities
- Identifying training gaps, key tasks, and competencies required for each position, highlighting critical roles and single point-of-failure positions.
- Develop a comprehensive cross-training program.
- Work with Engineering and Production to develop SOP’s for each job function.
- Manage and audit all safety checklists.
- Manage Training Matrix, including training audits, re-trainings, and employee updates.
- Facilitating training sessions, workshops, and on-the-job training for employees in different levels of understanding across interdepartmental areas.
- Provide hands-on training with measuring tools (tape measures, rulers, set squares, T-squares, vernier calipers) and basic hand tools (box stapler, hammer, wrenches, utility cutters, pliers, clamps, etc.).
- Introduce employees to engineering drawings (i.e., blueprints) and reinforce key concepts through practical application.
- Designing and developing training materials, including manuals, exams, and hands-on exercises.
- Assessing the effectiveness of training programs and making necessary adjustments to improve learning outcomes.
- Foster an engaging and inclusive learning environment that accommodates different learning styles.
- Keeping current with company changes in personnel, new equipment rollouts, and best practices in training methodologies.
- Working with managers, supervisors, and other teammates to ensure training programs align with company goals, tenets and objectives.
- Maintain training effectiveness through feedback and performance metrics, making necessary improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Support Production in supervisory role if necessary.
Qualifications/Skills
- Experience in delivering and developing training programs in an industrial setting.
- Proficiency in training industrial/manufacturing techniques.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assess training needs and develop effective training materials.
- Knowledge of relevant industrial processes, technologies, and safety procedures.
- Experience with learning management systems (LMS) is preferred.
- Bi-Lingual a plus but not required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to move about inside the plant.
- May be required to stoop, kneel, bend.
- Must be able to work in a plant environment, with limited air flow and proper PPE safety-required equipment.
