Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate, TE, IX, VT endorsement considered
- Work experience that qualifies candidates for ACA certification
- Proficient and knowledgeable in the subject areas
- Able to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents and staff
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of data and how it is used to inform instruction
Key Responsibilities & Skills
- Curriculum Development: Teaching safety, design, blueprint reading, and hands-on tool operation (both hand and power tools)
- Safety Instruction: Enforcing strict industry-standard safety protocols for a laboratory environment
- Hands-on Training: Utilizing project-based learning and scaffolding techniques to advance skills from beginner to advanced levels
- Manage the “Wood Lab” ecosystem, ensuring all machinery is calibrated, sharp, and functional
- Perform routine maintenance on table saws, planers, jointers, and sanding equipment
- Material Management: Oversee the inventory and procurement of consumable supplies including various wood species, hardware, adhesives, and finishing agents
- Plan, prepare and implement instruction and assessments
- Honor and carry out district initiatives
- Participate in professional development opportunities and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning
- Communicate student progress and development with parents and staff
- Provide a flexible, stable and pleasant learning environment that is child-centered while maintaining appropriate classroom management
- Work with other special services staff members to support implementation of student’s IEP
- Maintain full compliance with legal requirements and documentation
- Any other duties assigned by the Principal
Salary/Benefits
- Bachelor’s Degree Step 1 – $46,505
- Master’s Degree Step 1 – $54,910
