Industrial Painter - Evening Shift

About the role

The Industrial Painter will be responsible for all aspects of painting Industrial Equipment. This includes preparing surfaces, mixing paint, utilizing spraying equipment, operating paint booths, rolling and touching up, applying decals, etc. Key Deliverables include operating paint sprayer or other equipment industrial paint on metals or products, monitoring work to ensure desired results, ensuring that all materials are labeled accurately, cleaning, sanding / grinding and preparing equipment surface for painting, inspecting all products to ensure that the end results follow Astec’s guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Operate paint sprayer or other equipment industrial paint on metals or products.
• Maintain quality assurance standards (proper material and equipment usage).
• Clean, sand / grind and prepare equipment surface for painting.
• Inspect all products to ensure that the end results follow Astec’s guidelines.
• Achieve daily painting production requirements and complete assigned paint tasks efficiently.
• Ensure painting assignments are properly completed.
• Plan work tasks based on production schedule or shop request list.
• Apply primer and finish coats with attention to safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Mix and match paint, clean and maintain spray guns and other painting equipment.
• Work with unpleasant or toxic fumes and materials wearing protective and safety equipment.
• May work with unpleasant or toxic fumes and materials wearing protective and safety equipment.
• Attend weekly department safety meetings.
• Follow company policies and procedures at all times.
• Follow proper safety rules and procedures at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0 - 1 years of related experience.
• Detail-oriented, good workmanship while taking and following direction with little to no supervision.
• Demonstrated track record of working cross-functionally and as a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills desired.
• Ability to operate paint spray equipment, mixing equipment, booth equipment, work from ladders, lifts, etc. to properly apply various paints and coatings to industrial products.
• Ability to select appropriate coatings, paints, or sprays and prepare them by mixing in the correct ratios using automated paint mixing equipment.
• Forklift and overhead crane experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret a tape measure, engineering drawings, and bills of material (BOM's).

Qualifications
