About the role

The Industrial Painter will be responsible for all aspects of painting Industrial Equipment. This includes preparing surfaces, mixing paint, utilizing spraying equipment, operating paint booths, rolling and touching up, applying decals, etc. Key Deliverables include operating paint sprayer or other equipment industrial paint on metals or products, monitoring work to ensure desired results, ensuring that all materials are labeled accurately, cleaning, sanding/grinding and preparing equipment surface for painting, inspecting all products to ensure that the end results follow Astec’s guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Operate paint sprayer or other equipment industrial paint on metals or products.
  • Maintain quality standards during painting tasks.
  • Ensure accurate labeling of all materials used.
  • Clean, sand/grind, and prepare equipment surfaces for painting.
  • Inspect products to ensure compliance with Astec’s guidelines.
  • Accomplish daily painting production requirements efficiently.
  • Complete assigned paint tasks in an efficient manner.
  • Follow safety protocols and adhere to safety rules.
  • Plan and execute painting tasks based on production schedules or shop requests.
  • Apply primer and finish coats with attention to safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Mix and match paint, clean and maintain spray guns and other painting equipment.
  • Work with unpleasant or toxic fumes and materials wearing protective and safety equipment.
  • May occasionally be assigned to other duties for training purposes.
  • Attend weekly department safety meetings.
  • Follow company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 0 - 1 years of related experience.
  • Detail-oriented with good workmanship under minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate paint spray equipment, mixing equipment, booth equipment, work from ladders, lifts, etc.
  • Experience with forklifts and overhead cranes.
  • Ability to read and interpret a tape measure, engineering drawings, and bills of material (BOM's).

Qualifications

  • Must be able to operate paint spray equipment, mixing equipment, booth equipment, work from ladders, lifts, etc. to properly apply various paints and coatings to industrial products.
  • Must be able to select appropriate coatings, paints, or sprays and prepare them by mixing in the correct ratios using automated paint mixing equipment.

  • Detail-oriented.
