Industrial Mechanic - Edison, NJ

About the role

Join Silgan Containers, America’s largest metal food packaging producer, as a Machinist in Edison, NJ. We’re looking for skilled professionals to operate and maintain precision tooling and CNC equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain can lines, perform and document quality checks and measurements, requiring supervisory assistance only in unusual quality or operating problems.
• Take full responsibility for the quality of the product and line efficiency.
• Properly diagnose mechanical and quality problems, determine the necessary repairs, and restore malfunctioning equipment back to service with minimum delay.
• Handle pallets, tooling, barrels, boxes and cartons as required.
• Record product and equipment inspection to ensure quality production.
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and report any hazards that may compromise a safe workplace.
• Work closely with supervisors and fellow employees on improvement teams to uncover and implement safety, quality, productivity, and cost control advancements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Journeyman Mechanic certification.
• 2+ years as an Industrial Mechanic in a manufacturing environment.
