Industrial Mechanic

Description

Smurfit Westrock is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for their corrugated packaging plant located at 100 Southern Drive, Camillus, NY 13031. The position offers a starting hourly wage of $31.02 - $39.30, with shifts available as 2nd shift (2 pm - 10 pm) or 3rd shift (10 pm - 6 am), with flexibility to work either shift and overtime as needed.

Requirements

• Follow all safety rules and practices.
• Provide mechanical troubleshooting, preventive and emergency maintenance for the fast-paced corrugated packaging facility.
• Perform emergency breakdown maintenance as necessary to support plant operations, including preventive maintenance activities such as lubricating, measuring wear, measuring positions, repositioning components; and observing operations, vibrations, and noise levels.

What You Will Need To Succeed

• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, mechanical drives, pneumatics, hydraulics on high speed, high volume industrial equipment, and Boiler System.
• The ability to reference equipment manuals.
• Demonstrated ability of proper selection, maintenance, and precision installation of basic electrical along with safety/calibration and testing procedures on electrical systems.
• Strong understanding and application of precision maintenance.
• Willingness to maintain clean and organized work areas and cleaning up work areas as part of completing assigned tasks.
• May operate forklifts, hoists, and other heavy equipment.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance work order systems.
• Strong computer skills and willingness to update parts inventories, work orders, and work instructions on a daily basis.
• Strong understanding of 5S.
• Willingness to take advantage of company-paid, best-in-class training and development.

Education And Work Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience, preferably 5 plus years of experience, working with large industrial equipment troubleshooting, preventative maintenance & repair.
• Must demonstrate proper selection, maintenance and precision installation of power transmission equipment, gearbox, mechanical drives, mechanical and fluid drive systems.
• Excellent communication skills and a team attitude are a must.
• Experience in corrugated packaging or similar high volume, no redundancy manufacturing environment is highly valued.
