Industrial Manufacturing Engineering, Assistant Professor

About the role

The Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for one tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in Fall 2027. We seek candidates with expertise in Human-System Integration (including Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality), Human Factors and Ergonomics, Intelligent Systems, and Decision Sciences.

Responsibilities

• Teach a broad range of industrial engineering courses (e.g., Human Factors Engineering, Operations Research, Facility Planning, Lean Manufacturing)
• Develop new courses in human systems integration
• Establish a strong, externally funded research program in their area(s) of expertise

Requirements

• A Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely aligned field from an accredited university by the date of appointment is required.
• Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to inclusive excellence and student success, as well as strong oral and written communication skills.
• Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate expertise in human systems integration or in the application of Operations Research and computational methods to novel problems in this area.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely aligned field.
• Preferred qualifications include academic experience and strength in Human-System Integration (including Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality), Human Factors and Ergonomics, Intelligent Systems, and Decision Sciences.
• Industrial experience in the Human-System Integration areas that will enhance teaching and research.
• Demonstrated ability in university teaching, mentoring and supervising students, and/or improving industrial and manufacturing engineering curricula.
• Demonstrated ability for authoring peer-reviewed publications and/or securing external funds.
• Evidence of effective written and oral communication skills.

Full-time, 9-month appointment
