Job Responsibilities
The Industrial Maintenance Technology Instructor performs the following functions:
- Teaching Performance: Provides students with appropriate course materials, adheres to course competencies, is organized and prepared for classes, teaches and tests relevant content, varies delivery to meet different learning styles, provides appropriate and timely feedback, maintains a positive environment for optimum student performance, values appropriate student input, and maintains accepted standards of achievement.
- Student Advisement: Provides appropriate academic guidance, maintains office hours, cooperates as part of the advising team, assists students in setting and meeting educational goals, takes advantage of advising training, uses computer resources to access data and properly advise students, knows institutional policies, procedures, and programs, makes referrals and conducts follow-up, and deals with confidential information with discretion.
- Instructional Development: Prepares and maintains competency-based course syllabi and support materials, assists with textbook selection, and participates in instructional resource selection.
- College and/or Other Community Service: Promotes the College, assists in recruitment and placement, cooperates with and participates in projects and activities, serves on advisory committees, supports the continuing education program, and maintains a cooperative working relationship with College personnel.
- Professional Development: Keeps current in the teaching field, develops an annual professional development plan, participates in courses, seminars, and workshops, especially those introducing new ideas or practices.
- Instructional Management: Maintains required and appropriate records and files, submits reports accurately and timely, practices effective classroom management, prioritizes duties, uses time wisely, maintains current files for courses, handles student work and records professionally, and performs other duties as required.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Industrial Maintenance or a related field
- At least five years' of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of professional certification, work experience, and academic course work
- Preferred qualifications include programmable logic controllers (Allen-Bradley RS500 and RS5000/Studio5000, Koyo Click, and Siemens S7-200/S7-1200), electronic variable speed drives, HMI programming, piping systems, blueprint reading, hydraulics and pneumatics, automated manufacturing equipment integration, Fanuc and Kuka robotics & integration, knowledge of Industry 4.0, mechanical power transmission, vibration analysis, and previous experience teaching at the two-year college level
