Industrial Maintenance Technician – Packaging Systems

About the role

As an experienced maintenance professional, you will be responsible for keeping mission-critical packaging lines running at Greif. Your day-to-day tasks include reviewing overnight runtime and downtime reports, pulling work orders, and performing preventive maintenance on various lines. You will also troubleshoot equipment issues, document your actions, and provide guidance to junior mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Preventive maintenance per defined PM procedures
• Visual inspections; checking fluids; lubrication; cleaning parts; tightening/adjusting; part replacements; sensor and gauge calibration
• Diagnostics on machinery/equipment to evaluate performance and functionality
• Troubleshooting using tests, symptom analysis, and diagnostic tools to pinpoint causes
• Scoping materials, replacement parts, and tools for minor to moderate repairs
• Thorough documentation of maintenance and repairs; recommendations for future work
• Upkeep of shop tools and equipment to ensure readiness
• Stock control: inventorying, ordering, receiving, and verification; replenishment requests
• Participation in installations, modifications, and relocations of machinery and equipment
• Supporting equipment installation, modification, and relocation
• Providing feedback on persistent or emerging issues
• Completing role paperwork: work orders, parts requests, RCA reports, PM and runtime inspection sheets, and downtime reports
• Following guidance from senior mechanics; assisting junior mechanics with routine questions
• Adhering to operating and safety procedures

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Typically 2–4 years of relevant maintenance experience

Skills

• Preventive maintenance execution and equipment inspection
• Use of diagnostic tools to assess equipment performance/function
• Troubleshooting to identify root causes and complete moderate repairs
• Fluency with technical documents, schematics, blueprints, and P&IDs
• Accurate record-keeping and maintenance planning
• Organization of tools, supplies, and spare parts
• Capability to support equipment installation, modification, and relocation
• Clear communication to share feedback and support junior mechanics
• Strong adherence to cleanliness, safety, and operating procedures
