Industrial Maintenance Technician II (Maintenance Mechanic)
About the role
The purpose of this classification is to perform skilled maintenance, fabrication, overhaul and repair of mechanical equipment located within a water, wastewater, pump stations, lift stations and treatment facilities as a fully competent plant maintenance mechanic, working independently in diagnosing problems and facilitating repairs. This classification is safety sensitive, subject to random drug testing in accordance with the County’s Drug & Alcohol Policy.
Responsibilities
- Reviews system designs, specifications, and products, attends pre-construction meetings, and recommends changes in water/wastewater facilities mechanical systems;
- Troubleshoots problems and recommends corrective actions based on skilled knowledge of mechanical repair practices;
- Performs preventative maintenance and corrective repair work on water/wastewater facilities and equipment;
- Fabricates and machines repair parts for equipment;
- Welds steel, brass and aluminum;
- Operates lathes, mill/drill presses, welders and various other metal working power and hand tools;
- Locates leaks and detects defects in water/wastewater equipment and machinery according to established plans and standards;
- Maintains, reviews, and validates work practices for quality control of processes and to ensure adherence to safety standards;
- Makes inputs and gathers data from Supervisory Control Data Acquisition system (SCADA) and runs reports as necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required;
- Three years of experience in industrial maintenance preferably in a water and/or wastewater treatment facility;
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job;
- Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license;
- Must obtain a State of Georgia CDL Class B License within six months of employment.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, three years of experience in industrial maintenance preferably in a water and/or wastewater treatment facility, and any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Specific license or certification required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license; must obtain a State of Georgia CDL Class B License within six months of employment.
