Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Research, order and coordinate instructional materials for all manufacturing programs (consumables and non-consumables).
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot machine malfunctions and breakdowns; maintain and repair equipment used by students and instructors in manufacturing labs.
  • Schedule and coordinate outside contractors for repairs, upgrades and machine installations.
  • Maintain instructional labs (cleanliness to ensure safety; availability of personal protective equipment (PPE) and instructional materials, etc.).
  • Develop and implement safety procedures used in the manufacturing labs.
  • Keep maintenance and warranty records of machines used in labs.
  • Keep and update hazardous materials records.
  • Maintain financial records for purchasing cards.
  • Plan and coordinate capital projects involving equipment and infrastructure.
  • Assist managers with capital purchases.
  • Maintain current professional knowledge in the field through professional education and activities.
  • Support College managers in quality and process improvement activities.
  • Participate in and contribute to assignments and special projects of a similar nature and level.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Working knowledge in industrial maintenance processes and systems.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills - oral, written and listening for interaction with faculty, other staff and students.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to work processes and equipment issues.
  • Ability to attend to detailed work, maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to maintain operational status of a manufacturing facility including repair, purchasing, occupational safety and planning.
  • Intermediate level computer software application skills in word processing and spreadsheets.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Two-year certificate or degree in industrial maintenance related field, OR
  • Journeyman’s card in Maintenance Mechanic Millwright or Industrial Maintenance or Industrial Electrician.
  • Seven (7) years of combined relevant coursework and experience in equipment repair and maintenance in an industrial, manufacturing, facilities, or technical environment.
