Industrial Maintenance Technician

Smithers-Oasis, a global leader in floral, grower, postharvest and specialty foam products, is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician at its Kent, OH location. Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair and maintain manufacturing and facility equipment.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting, including variable frequency drives and basic PLC and CNC controlled equipment.
- Install new, used, and relocated equipment according to applicable electrical and building codes.
- Generate bills of material and purchase materials for electrical projects.
- Perform basic machining tasks such as vertical milling, metal turning, and surface grinding.
- Perform basic fabrication tasks, including TIG, MIG, or stick welding.
- Perform facility upgrades or repairs involving carpentry, plumbing, roof repair, and painting.
- Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
- Adhere to safety procedures and applicable codes.
- Maintain daily logs of activities performed.
- Participate in and support PSM-PM and PM programs.
- Assist in snow removal and plant safety and security.
- Attend and complete required educational training programs.
- Lead, participate in, and support continuous improvement activities.
Requirements
- A high school diploma with an electrical certification from a trade school, college, or formal technical education.
- At least 3-5 years of industrial electrical experience.
- The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and CAD equipment drawings.
- The ability to follow detailed instructions and perform basic math calculations.
- The ability to work independently and communicate effectively with various internal teams and external vendors.
- The ability to lift, carry, and handle objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
- The ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
- The ability to operate aerial platform equipment at heights.
Qualifications
This role requires a strong background in industrial electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to safety and reliability in their work.

Pay and Schedule
The starting pay for this position is $31.00 per hour, with higher pay depending on experience. The position offers a two-week rotating schedule of Monday through Friday from 4:30am to 2:30pm and 6:00am to 4:00pm. Schedules may change based on business needs, and overtime may be required. Call backs during off shifts may be required, and there is the possibility of working additional hours on Fridays and potentially Saturdays.
