Industrial Maintenance Technician

About the role

An Industrial Maintenance Technician at Carter Lumber is responsible for maintaining a clean, functional facility by performing daily repairs, emergency, and preventative maintenance. Key responsibilities include inspecting all machinery to ensure safety functions are working properly.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and troubleshoot industrial production machinery
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on production machinery to minimize downtime
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including servos, limit switches, PLCs, sensors, motors, and basic machine controls
• Document all maintenance activities and maintain accurate service records
• Ensure safety functions on equipment are operating properly
• Handle material in a safe and appropriate manner
• Adhere to safety requirements when operating tools and equipment
• Recommend and maintain inventory of critical spare parts to ensure continuous operation
• Maintain and repair mechanical systems such as conveyors, saws, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and hydraulic/pneumatic components

Requirements

• Preferred hands-on experience inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial production machinery
• Must be able to work on-site
• Must be a self-starter and able to work unsupervised
• Knowledge and experience in industrial maintenance, including electrical troubleshooting, welding, fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals
• Strong organizational skills and excellent communication skills
• Ability to carry 25-50 lbs
• Strong computer skills

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in industrial maintenance preferred
• Valid driver’s license
