Industrial Maintenance Technician Apprentice

To be fully engaged in the following State Certified 3-year, 6000-hour hands-on training program. The training curriculum is work-based and provides hands-on experience in a structured environment, approved by the Mississippi Apprenticeship Program (MAP) under the DOL. Online classes will be mandatory and conducted during normal business hours. Due to the significant investment by Tegra Medical and the selected individual, a letter of understanding will be drawn up and signed by both parties.

About the role

An Industrial Maintenance Technician Apprentice assists in the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of machinery and equipment in an industrial setting. They learn to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and other system failures, perform preventative maintenance, and install or replace components under the guidance of experienced technicians. This role involves hands-on training, learning to read technical manuals and schematics, and adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
• Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts.
• Determines changes in requirements of parts by inspecting and measuring various instruments.
• Maintains inventories of equipment, parts, and supplies by checking stock and placing orders.
• Trains production workers on routine preventive maintenance.
• Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
• Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Identifies the root cause of equipment malfunctions using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
• Communicates effectively with other technicians and production staff.
• Performs maintenance and repairs with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Uses hand and power tools effectively.
• Cleans chips out of machines.

Requirements

• Ability, desire, and flexibility to perform a variety of machining operations and other functions within manufacturing as needed.
• Good manual dexterity and ability to use measurement and inspection tools.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Graduate of a vocational school in manufacturing/machining or engineering discipline is a plus.
• Experience in a small device manufacturing environment or a machining background is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently performing repetitive work.
• Occasional lifting (max. 40 lbs.).
• Occasional carrying (max. 40 lbs.).
• Subject to physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
• Constant use of safety glasses and safety shoes.
• Constant full PPE requirement.
• Frequent standing.
• Subject to handling and processing sharpened tips or edges.
• Occasionally sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
