About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician at Steel Technologies, you will improve safety, quality, and efficiency by performing preventative, routine, and emergency mechanical and/or electrical maintenance, providing effective troubleshooting, and ensuring operations run effectively at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance on all plant machinery.
  • Carry out the preventative maintenance program for the plant.
  • Accept and control maintenance operations; communicate non-compliance problems to supervisor for instruction.
  • Identify and address safety concerns throughout the facility.
  • Maintain general housekeeping and organization of the maintenance department and all equipment repair work areas.
  • Continuously review the operation of plant equipment and systems to minimize downtime.
  • Anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs through quick and effective root cause analysis.
  • Accurately fill out documentation on work orders.
  • Perform emergency maintenance repairs on all plant machinery.
  • Interpret blueprints to properly fabricate parts and equipment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of motor control systems, hydraulic systems, fire protection, and mechanical bearing systems.
  • Knowledge of equipment installation.
  • Ability to correctly retrieve and input data in a computer using Excel and CMMS System.
  • Ability to successfully troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment/machinery.
  • Strong mechanical industrial knowledge and basic electrical knowledge.
  • Ability to operate motor control systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatics, hoists, fire protection, and mechanical bearing systems.
  • Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements.
  • Experience operating metal working tools such as grinder, band saw, drill press, welding equipment, etc.
  • Mechatronics certificate is strongly desired but not required.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
