About the Role
As a Maintenance Technician at Steel Technologies, you will improve safety, quality, and efficiency by performing preventative, routine, and emergency mechanical and/or electrical maintenance, providing effective troubleshooting, and ensuring operations run effectively at all times.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on all plant machinery.
- Carry out the preventative maintenance program for the plant.
- Accept and control maintenance operations; communicate non-compliance problems to supervisor for instruction.
- Identify and address safety concerns throughout the facility.
- Maintain general housekeeping and organization of the maintenance department and all equipment repair work areas.
- Continuously review the operation of plant equipment and systems to minimize downtime.
- Anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner.
- Identify opportunities for improvement.
- Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs through quick and effective root cause analysis.
- Accurately fill out documentation on work orders.
- Perform emergency maintenance repairs on all plant machinery.
- Interpret blueprints to properly fabricate parts and equipment.
Requirements
- Knowledge of motor control systems, hydraulic systems, fire protection, and mechanical bearing systems.
- Knowledge of equipment installation.
- Ability to correctly retrieve and input data in a computer using Excel and CMMS System.
- Ability to successfully troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment/machinery.
- Strong mechanical industrial knowledge and basic electrical knowledge.
- Ability to operate motor control systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatics, hoists, fire protection, and mechanical bearing systems.
- Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements.
- Experience operating metal working tools such as grinder, band saw, drill press, welding equipment, etc.
- Mechatronics certificate is strongly desired but not required.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
