Industrial Maintenance Mechanic III
About the role
The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic III is a senior-level technician responsible for performing complex mechanical and electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated production equipment in a high-speed food manufacturing environment. This role provides advanced technical support, mentors junior mechanics, and plays a key role in minimizing downtime and ensuring operational reliability.
Responsibilities
- Candidates must be able to work weekends, and overtime as required
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems, including motors, pumps, valves, conveyors, and packaging machinery
- Lead and execute complex equipment rebuilds, installations, and overhauls with minimal supervision
- Diagnose issues with PLCs, VFDs, and control systems and coordinate with electricians or automation teams for programming support
- Serve as a lead mechanic on shift, guiding lower-level technicians and coordinating urgent work orders
- Execute and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs using CMMS
- Fabricate and modify machine parts as needed using hand tools, welding equipment, and machining tools
- Follow GMPs, safety standards, and sanitation procedures; support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective actions
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and parts usage documentation
- Support training and onboarding of Maintenance I and II mechanics
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably food/beverage
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
- Ability to interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals
- Experience using CMMS and working within GMP and HACCP-regulated environments
- Able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, work in elevated areas, and in hot/cold/wet environments
- Preferred: Technical certification or trade school degree, Welding/fabrication experience, Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement practices, Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb stairs, and work from elevated platforms for extended periods
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in confined spaces and heights as needed
- May be required to use a worker cage or lift equipment to access high, elevated areas
- Use of PPE (gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.) required
Work Environment
- The work environment is a food manufacturing facility
- Exposure to moving machinery and noise
- Employees may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures, humidity, moisture, and liquids when working on production machines
- Exposure to strong odors and fumes from hot peppers and other flavorful ingredients processed in the facility is likely
- Frequent exposure to moving machinery, wet and slippery surfaces, and cleaning chemicals
- Must be able to work in a high-demand, fast-paced production environment with strict hygiene and safety protocols
- May require flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts based on production demands
Pay
Pay Range: $40—$50 USD
