Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

About the Role

Join Darigold’s Pasco team as a Maintenance Mechanic and play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dairy facility. This position supports a 24/7/365 facility producing butter and milk powder, performing preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment. You will document repairs using a computerized maintenance management software (CMMS).

Responsibilities

• Execute preventive maintenance and repair of industrial equipment, including production, building, and utility systems such as pumps, valves, separators, RO systems, evaporators, dryers, case packers, palletizers, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, forklifts, and more.
• Use CMMS to log working hours, look up parts, write repair notes, create follow-up work orders, and receive daily tasks.
• Read and follow work orders for service, modification, or installation of machinery.
• Perform inspections, installations, operations, lubrication, maintenance, and repairs; interpret meters and gauges; adjust and repair support and facility equipment.
• Inspect equipment for safety and test functionality.
• Monitor and operate plant utilities, including power distribution, steam generation, chillers, cooling towers, domestic tempered water, plant HVAC, water distribution, and fire suppression systems.
• Maintain professional relationships with plant management, operations staff, customers, and vendors.
• Perform maintenance using hand, shop, and power tools.

Requirements

• Knowledge of mechanical systems, including:
  • Utilities: Electrical, steam, air, water, wastewater, and refrigeration.
  • Building systems: HVAC, fire, and security.
  • Mechanical: Power transmission (gearboxes, chain and sprocket, belt and pulleys), pumps, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
• Experience with repair and maintenance of:
  • Packaging equipment: Palletizers, case packers, case formers, baggers, stretch wrappers, conveyors, and robotics.
  • Fluid transport and processing: Pumps, valves, heat exchangers, separators, and evaporators.
  • Utilities: Boilers, chillers, and air compressors.
• Ability to follow food safety regulations and best practices.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
• Proficiency in using CMMS to document repairs and look up parts.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft products: Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience in dairy, beverage, packaging, or food processing industry.
• Ability to troubleshoot reliability issues in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. routinely and frequently; sit, stand, climb, or walk for 12 hours.
• Ability to work in a loud environment.
• Willingness to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school completion or GED.
• Formal education in a related field preferred.

• Experience troubleshooting PLCs and controls instrumentation.
• Industrial electrical and controls experience.
• Strong mechanical and manufacturing experience.
• Proven sanitary welding experience.
• Proven stainless steel fabrication and welding skills.

Schedule

Darigold operates 365 days a year. Candidates must be willing to work rotating night and day shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Pay

$33.51 to $44.32 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
