About the role

Our client in the wholesale building materials industry is looking for an Industrial Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance team, capital projects, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with automation/controls experience, a background in steel or metal fabrication, and a track record of developing technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a maintenance and engineering team with a safety and accountability focus
  • Oversee departmental budgets, staffing, KPIs, and performance to support business objectives
  • Build and own reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), predictive/preventive maintenance, root-cause failure analysis (RCFA), and asset lifecycle programs
  • Troubleshoot and optimize PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and control platforms
  • Apply mechanical engineering principles to improve equipment safety and reliability
  • Improve manufacturing processes, eliminate bottlenecks, and support new product introductions
  • Lead capital equipment commissioning, installations, and expansions safely and on schedule
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve plant performance and resolve equipment issues
  • Use maintenance and production data to drive downtime reduction and process improvement
  • Manage relationships with contractors, equipment suppliers, and OEMs
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, environmental regulations, and company safety standards

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance and engineering
  • 3+ years of experience leading maintenance, engineering, or reliability teams
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, industrial controls, and CMMS systems
  • Strong mechanical background in hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission
  • Knowledge of preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) programs
  • Experience leading capital projects, equipment installations, and process improvements
