Industrial Maintenance Electrician

About the role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for helping with and maintaining all electrical aspects of the milling operation.

Responsibilities

• Plans layout, installs, and repairs wiring on electrical fixtures, motors, and control equipment
• Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials
• Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows schematics or blueprints to ensure that the wiring is installed correctly and to code
• Connects wiring to lighting fixtures, switches, relays, circuit breakers, motor control centers, power distribution panels, and switch gear
• Tests continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components
• Operates multimeters, ohmmeters, and ammeters
• Troubleshoots electrical components and systems
• Utilizes the IMS and SPC where applicable
• Maintains work environment in a clean and orderly fashion
• Follows all Personnel Safety policies/procedures, including the use of proper PPE, as well as ensures the safe use of required tools and equipment
• Follows all Food Safety, Quality Assurance, GMPs, Sanitation and general plant policies/procedures
• Inspects products for overall appearance according to customer and QA/Food Safety requirements and communicates with supervisor when non-conforming products are present
• Communicates all safety or environmental issues to supervisors/managers
• Secures all equipment and performs general housekeeping duties at end of shift
• Completes necessary paperwork for documenting process parameters and recordkeeping requirements

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 years of vocational electrical training and classes
• Journeyman electrician qualified
• Minimum 5 years industrial electrical experience
• Allen Bradley PLC programming experience
• Team oriented

Physical and Mental Requirements

This position requires physical and mental alertness, attentiveness and stamina for the length of an entire 8–12 hour work shift each day. Occasional to frequent lifting of 50–100 pounds, frequent changing from a seated to standing position and occasional to frequent stair climbing are all physical demands of this position. The working environment for this position will include occasional to frequent work in both extreme cold and hot weather conditions.
