Hunt Electric, Inc. is seeking an experienced Industrial Journeyman Electrician to join our Industrial and Automation division. This role works closely in the field to ensure timely and accurate completion of work in automation, motor controls, and power systems.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and install new or modified electrical installations in manufacturing, wastewater, and mining facilities, including Motor Control Centers, pumps, conveyors, controls, instrumentation, and main distribution electrical systems.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical raceways using proper electrical tools.
  • Perform troubleshooting procedures to diagnose and resolve issues with installed equipment or systems, including adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Execute “lock out-tag out” procedures to safely repair faulty electrical equipment or systems.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain three-phase power distribution systems (permanent and portable).
  • Work with VFDs, soft starts, HMIs, and PLCs.
  • Design, install, maintain, and service motor control systems.
  • Read and interpret prints, controls, motor controls, and perform control design and troubleshooting.
  • Apply knowledge of power distribution from 480V three-phase to 120V single-phase.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with three-phase and single-phase motors, terminations, splicing, load calculations, ampacity, wire sizing, voltage drop, and overload protection.
  • Use test equipment such as meters, amp probes, power meters, and meggers.
  • Work at industrial sites including surface mine sites (sand and gravel pits, asphalt plants, concrete plants), oil and gas facilities, manufacturing plants, and other industrial environments.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Contribute to a positive team environment with a goal-oriented, “Can-Do” attitude.
  • Demonstrate dependability through regular attendance and compliance with scheduled work hours.
  • Perform other duties or work at other locations as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of construction and ability to review and understand blueprints.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment with varying priority levels.
  • Allen-Bradley PLC programming experience.
  • Familiarity with Codesys programming environment.
  • Experience with Ignition SCADA/HMI platforms.
  • Strong understanding of industrial networking and Ethernet/IP communications.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Apprentice or Journeyman Electrician’s license (preferred).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • MSHA certification or prior experience working on MSHA-regulated sites.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to pass a background check, maintain a clean MVR, and hold a valid driver’s license.
