About the role

As a full-time Industrial Hygiene Technician, whether an entry-level professional or a seasoned expert, this position involves conducting assessments of hazardous building materials, with a primary focus on asbestos, lead-based paint, and indoor air quality concerns, such as mold. Responsibilities also include air monitoring during asbestos abatement projects, preparing reports, maintaining and calibrating equipment, and participating in quality control programs.

Depending on experience, technicians may assist under direct supervision, work independently on complex projects, or lead teams and manage large-scale assessments. • Perform or assist with assessments of asbestos, lead-based paint, and other hazardous materials on job sites, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Conduct regulatory air monitoring during asbestos abatement projects, including personal and area exposure assessments.
• Prepare accurate field reports and client data summaries, ranging from basic documentation to complex analysis, depending on experience level.
• Maintain, calibrate, and manage monitoring equipment to ensure proper functionality and adherence to quality control programs.
• Collaborate with project managers and technicians, participate in quality control programs, and, for senior-level roles, lead project teams and oversee large-scale assessments.

Experience shifting work hours based on project demands and weather, including early mornings, some Saturdays, and overtime (paid at time and a half). Occasional travel to support other offices is covered with per diem and lodging.

Requirements

• All experience levels welcome:
  • Associate Technician: just starting – training is provided
  • Technician I: 1+ years of relevant experience, OR equivalent experience, with an associate degree in a related field
  • Technician II: 3+ years of relevant experience, OR equivalent experience, with an associate degree in a related field
  • Technician III: 5+ years of relevant experience. Experience in overseeing and mentoring junior staff, a plus
• Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, a plus
• Industry-related certifications:
  • Asbestos Inspector/Air Sampler, strongly preferred
  • Lead Inspector or Risk Assessor
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40hr
• Attention to detail and good communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
• Adequate mechanical/equipment operation skills necessary to calibrate and adjust a light microscope
• Effective math skills necessary to perform asbestos sample analysis
• Valid U.S. driver's license or an International Driving Permit (IDP) valid for driving in the United States, with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to safely operate a company-assigned vehicle, including trucks and SUVs
• Willingness to complete a background check, driving record check, and drug screen upon offer of employment
• Understanding of a fluctuating schedule and interest in occasional travel

Skills

• Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as:
  • Working the majority of the time outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially long periods
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
