About the role

The Industrial Engineer of Supply Chain & Procurement - Buyer will play a crucial role in sourcing and managing the supply chain for Aquatech's manufacturing of water and wastewater treatment systems. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, this position requires a strong background in procurement, particularly within the technical commodities industry of valves, pumps, vessels, and other water treatment equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly purchase all commodities and technical equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, controls, vessels, and piping) for the manufacturer of water and wastewater treatment systems
  • Copies data and compiles records and reports
  • Operates computer terminal to input and retrieve data
  • Purchases supplies
  • Data entry of all purchase orders
  • Aids other departments when required
  • Reviews requisitions
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
  • Prepares purchase orders or bid requests
  • Receives and contacts vendors to find out the status of an order
  • Contact vendors with discrepancies in quantity and quality
  • I interfaced with all departments and resolved problems and issues with needed purchase items
  • Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority
  • Travels when needed to meet project requirements

Requirements

  • Ability to get quotations from vendors for projects & review them
  • Ability to negotiate supplier prices and purchase commodities for projects expediting to meet the due date
  • Ability to approve supplier invoices, manage appropriate purchasing budget, check for missing material in the shop, and follow up on partial deliveries
  • Ability to maintain budget reports
  • Ability to handle nonconformance with the Quality department
  • Knowledge of industrial water and wastewater treatment systems is preferred
  • Prior purchasing experience with international vendors is desired
  • Working knowledge of SAP

Qualifications / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Two (2) years of experience is preferred
  • One (1) year of experience with SAP is preferred
