AIC - Industrial Engineer Supply Chain & Procurement - Buyer

Job Description

Promptly purchase all commodities and technical equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, controls, vessels, and piping) for the manufacturer of water and wastewater treatment systems.

Copies data and compiles records and reports.

Operates computer terminal to input and retrieve data.

Purchases supplies.

Data entry of all purchase orders.

Aids other departments when required.

Reviews requisitions.

Contacts vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.

Receives and contacts vendors to find out the status of an order.

Contact vendors with discrepancies in quantity and quality.

Interacts with all departments and resolves problems and issues with needed purchase items.

Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.

Travels when needed to meet project requirements.

Skill Requirements

• Ability to get quotations from vendors for projects & review them.
• Ability to negotiate supplier prices and purchase commodities for projects expediting to meet the due date.
• Ability to approve supplier invoices, manage appropriate purchasing budget, check for missing material in the shop, and follow up on partial deliveries.
• Ability to maintain budget reports.
• Ability to handle nonconformance with the Quality department.
• Knowledge of industrial water and wastewater treatment systems is preferred.
• Prior purchasing experience with international vendors is desired.
• Working knowledge of SAP.

Physical Job Demands

• Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
• Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time and limited walking and standing.

Qualifications / Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Two (2) years of experience is preferred.
• One (1) year of experience with SAP is preferred.
