About the role

Emerson, a global leader in custom-designed control valves, is seeking a motivated Industrial Engineer to join their Marshalltown, Iowa team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and continuously improve manufacturing methods to reduce cost and strengthen competitive advantage.
  • Research new manufacturing technologies and recommend capital improvement projects.
  • Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and equipment layout to maximize efficiency and safety.
  • Collaborate with vendors to define product specifications, source equipment, materials, and components, and evaluate them against quality and performance standards.
  • Estimate production times, staffing needs, and related costs to support management decision-making.
  • Partner with management, design engineering, and cross-functional teams on manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and process improvements.
  • Implement engineering changes and new process introductions into the manufacturing system in a timely and effective manner.
  • Use CAD/CAM and CNC machining programs to help optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Apply statistical methods to assess and improve manufacturing process capability.
  • Develop clear work instructions and tooling documentation to support production teams.
  • Support production departments by troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing issues.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control, lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience programming CNC machines using G and M codes, as well as experience with CNC programming software such as Edge Cam, Mastercam, etc.
  • Experience supporting machining, and fabrication operations in a high-mix manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting new process introductions and capital equipment projects.
