Responsibilities
- Design site layouts for new and existing warehouses using AutoCAD, incorporating operational workflows across inbound, outbound, storage, picking, and shipping.
- Select and specify material handling and ancillary equipment, including reach and turret trucks, wire guidance systems, battery/charging systems, racking and shelving specifications, conveyors, AGVs, sorting systems, and dock equipment.
- Drive engineering documentation control by creating, maintaining, and governing layouts, specifications, standards, procedures, and work instructions.
- Lead end-to-end execution of capital projects, warehouse buildouts, and operational improvement initiatives, from analysis and design through implementation.
- Partner with cross-functional teams and vendors to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
- Analyze operational performance and implement practical solutions to improve equipment utilization, workflows, and labor efficiency.
- Support and optimize existing automation and material handling systems, troubleshooting issues and implementing enhancements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 4-year degree and 1–4 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
- Experience working in a distribution center environment.
- Experience with material handling equipment and conveyance systems and working with equipment vendors and contractors.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Visio, MS Project, Power BI, and basic data analysis tools (VBA/SQL preferred).
- Experience developing or supporting engineered labor standards and/or engineering time standards.
- Safety-first mindset with the ability to design and implement safe warehouse solutions.
