Industrial Engineer

Job Summary

The Industrial Engineer will evaluate current manufacturing practices, manage production schedules, process work flows, enforce quality control, and improve production processes across the 4 public shipyards (PHNS, PSNS, PNSY, and NNSY) on behalf of PMO 555. This position requires on-site work at one of the following Naval Shipyards: Norfolk, VA, Bremerton, WA, or Washington, DC, with travel to the other Shipyards as required.

Job Duties

• Use of both basic and advanced calculations to determine the current and potential productivity of a process.
• Evaluate current production schedules and processes to find potential improvements.
• Design the layouts of the facilities and estimate production costs.
• Develop relationships with coworkers to make technical recommendations.
• Create viable solutions for a variety of challenges.
• Analyze data and create reports to describe results for leadership and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related fields such as Modeling and Simulation, or Production Management.
• Seven or more (7+) years of relevant expertise and experience as an Industrial or Manufacturing Engineer.
• Experience designing and developing production layouts for shipyards, production facilities, warehouses, and/or machine shops.
• Shipyard experience is required, including Machine Shop or Factory Production experience.

Desired Skills

• PE Certification.
• Modeling and Simulation experience.
• Operations Research experience.

Qualifications

• Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.
• US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.

Pay

$110,000/year to $140,000/year, commensurate with experience.
