About the role
HSP US is building the future of energy. We are launching a new greenfield manufacturing facility and seeking an Industrial Engineer to contribute to high-impact work in the energy sector.
Responsibilities
- Design and implementation of production workstations in accordance with lean principles.
- Development and maintenance of assembly and production routings for new products and product variants based on bills of materials and technical drawings.
- Conducting manufacturability, feasibility, and process capability analyses considering technical, ergonomic, and organizational constraints.
- Creation, validation, and continuous improvement of standardized work instructions for manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Coordination and implementation of engineering changes affecting parts, processes, and layouts in collaboration with relevant functions.
- Support of pilot builds, ramp-up phases, and industrialization activities, including root cause analysis of deviations.
- Direct shop floor support to resolve process deviations and ensure stable production processes.
- Continuous optimization and update of work plans and process documentation based on change management and improvement initiatives.
- Maintenance of process and work planning data within relevant production and documentation systems.
- Layout, Tooling & Ergonomics (Lean Work Design): Design and development of tools, fixtures, and aids to support ergonomically optimized and waste-free workstations.
- Participation in the selection, procurement, and commissioning of production equipment and tools, including supplier coordination.
- Identification of ergonomic risks and development of corrective measures aligned with ergonomic and occupational standards.
- Support of standardized workstation design and lean layout concepts.
- Time Management & Standard Data: Planning, execution, and evaluation of time studies in accordance with defined industrial engineering and industrial standards.
- Analysis, documentation, and validation of standard times and process data.
- Coordination and alignment of time study results with technical departments and employee representatives.
- Identification of deviations between target and actual times and derivation of improvement actions.
- Integration of validated standard time data into production planning and control systems.
- Continuous Improvement & Projects: Participation in continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives (Lean, Operational Excellence, EHS).
- Contribution to cross-functional industrial engineering and improvement projects.
- Support of additional time studies and process analyses as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline; advanced education or professional certifications in Industrial Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, Operations Management, or Continuous Improvement are considered an asset.
- 3–7 years of experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, production planning, work measurement, or process improvement within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with SAP or other ERP systems; ability to maintain routings, bills of materials, production master data, and engineering change information.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, work measurement techniques, time studies, and standard work development.
- Experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, or similar methodologies to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools; experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools is considered an asset.
- Experience designing production layouts, workstations, tooling, fixtures, and ergonomic solutions within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify process inefficiencies and implement sustainable improvements.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations teams.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and ergonomic standards applicable to manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Exposure to transformer manufacturing, heavy industrial manufacturing, or complex assembly environments is considered an asset.
