About the Role
This position works in a fast-paced team environment, collaborating cross-functionally across the organization including Quality, Program Management, Logistics, Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, and Manufacturing. The Industrial Engineer will execute change using process improvement methodologies, assist in implementing the organization’s Lean strategy, execute project initiatives, and train and mentor key resources.
Responsibilities
- Interface with quality, manufacturing engineering, planning, and production to integrate new products or processes into the existing production area.
- Effectively utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to support the Operations Value Stream (from Receiving to Shipping).
- Develop and execute Value Stream Maps (current and future) according to the Lean Operations Roadmap.
- Assist and support the current 5S program.
- Lead, participate in, and support Kaizen Events and A3 projects.
- Interface with manufacturing engineering, logistics, and production to develop shop floor photo documentation and standard work instructions.
- Work with manufacturing engineering to maintain the requirement of new tools and fixtures in routings for final assembly.
- Develop and maintain routings for final assembly.
- Develop and maintain documentation that supports production flow (e.g., seat run, sequence of drawings).
- Conduct time studies, sequence analysis, capacity-labor analysis, and workload balancing using Cycle Time for production areas.
- Ensure all production work is balanced to Cycle Time and produce product to TAKT time.
- Conduct time studies for logistics processes.
- Define and optimize material delivery to assembly lines.
- Responsible for the layout and placement of production material and equipment for the Operations Value Stream.
- Support failure analysis and develop effective countermeasures with production, quality, and engineering departments.
- Support the implementation of Root Cause Corrective Action.
- Provide formal and informal training, coaching, and share best practices.
- Work in teams to achieve positive results and foster an atmosphere for developing new concepts, ideas, and methods to support continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or similar field preferred, with 3+ years of relevant experience (production/industrial engineering/logistics).
- Associate’s degree in a technical or STEM field with 8+ years of relevant experience (production/industrial engineering/logistics) may be considered.
- Knowledge of industrial engineering processes, concepts, and procedures.
- Knowledge of manufacturing planning processes, concepts, and procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and AutoCAD required.
- SAP knowledge is required.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
