About the role
This Industrial Engineer works with the extended Industrial Engineering team to develop and improve production processes. This position will use good data collection and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot root causes. They will also assist with implementing corrective measures or improvements to the production processes. The individual should be proficient in time studies, layouts, and material flow.
Responsibilities
- Determine the capacity of production and process.
- Improve production processes through the application of lean manufacturing techniques to reduce waste, costs and increase quality.
- Layout changes using AutoCAD.
- Ergonomics studies and workstation design.
- Understand and utilize 5S, 7 Waste, VSM, and Problem Solving.
- Create and maintain Job Detail Records.
- Perform time studies that include a detailed breakdown of value-added, non-value-added, and waste.
- Train and assist equipment operators, and maintenance technicians in areas of responsibility.
- Responsible for reviewing safety and quality standards to ensure the manufacturing environment is properly meeting these guidelines.
- Experience working on complex problems where analysis or data requires evaluation and identifiable factors and interacting with leadership on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers.
- Guide the completion of projects and conduct technical tasks and/or set specific technical strategy and direction for self and/or others.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering.
- Strong background in manufacturing processes, process improvement, and operational optimization.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
- Internships or Co-op experience in Industrial and Mechanical systems including packaging, layouts, conveying, and product handling.
Skills
- Physical ability to work on and around industrial equipment, including occasional lifting to 50lbs.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of manufacturing systems.
- Effective in time management and delegation.
- Skilled in debugging and root cause analysis.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Lean philosophies and experienced in practicing those applications.
- Prior knowledge of using any ticket tracking system (i.e. Jira).
- Prior knowledge of using PLM system (i.e. Agile) would be a benefit.
- Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.).
- Proficient with AutoCAD.
