About the role
Penguin Random House, LLC is seeking a driven, self-motivated individual to join our Operations Services team at the Westminster Operations Center in Carroll County, Maryland. This unique position involves collaborating with people at all levels within the organization in support of our goal of strengthening the world's largest general trade book publisher by building the best supply chain in the publishing industry.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement
- Develop new approaches that support operational growth and efficiency
- Contribute to analyses and projects focused on distribution operations
- Support warehouse management system implementations
- Design new facilities and implement new automation and material handling solutions
- Time studies, flow chart development, testing system enhancements, and training others
- Extract, analyze, and summarize large data sets to communicate findings clearly
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in industrial engineering, supply chain operations, or a related technical field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced Excel skills, including experience working with complex formulas
- Excellent PC skills to include Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing conditions
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across functions and levels of the organization
Qualifications
- Preferred: Experience leading or supporting cross-functional projects, working with external vendors, implementing or supporting warehouse management systems, implementing or supporting automation systems and material handling equipment, training others, and extracting, analyzing, and summarizing large data sets to communicate findings clearly
Additional Role Details and Requirements
- This is an onsite role, Monday through Friday
- Some non-standard and weekend work is expected during system implementations
- Travel is required as needed based on project work
- May include visits to other facilities and implementation sites
- Travel frequency will vary depending on project scope and phase
- Attendance at trade shows and industry conferences may be required to support vendor engagement, equipment and solution exploration, operational improvement initiatives, and professional development
