About the role
Jabil has an immediate need for an Industrial Engineer to work on site in Auburn Hills, MI. The successful candidate will plan, oversee, and perform analysis on equipment layout, workflow, movement of workstations, and manpower to ensure efficient utilization of plant resources. They will also recommend methods for improving efficiency and reducing waste; prepare time estimates for proposed projects and evaluate time factors relating to production processes; and prepare quotes for mechanical assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Works safely at all times and complies with Environmental Health and Safety standards and work practices along with all other work rules
- Safely supports efforts to Analyze, plan and coordinate equipment layout, workflow, workstation move activities, and manpower based on production costs, process flow charts, production schedules, etc. to ensure efficient utilization of plant resources
- Safely coordinates with impacted departments to reorganizing workflow, manpower, equipment layout, and workstation movement
- Safely maintains up to date master facility drawings
- Safely supports maintaining space allocation reports for forecasting
- Safely conducts and analyses time studies of manufacturing processes
- Safely supports recommending improvements on the logistics of handling material within the plant
- Safely participates in continuous improvement (i.e. kaizen) and cost reduction initiatives for the manufacturing process. Safely supports process and job task design with ergonomic analysis
- Safely supports workstation and equipment designs to support plant operations
- Safely completes equipment qualifications
- Safely supports preparation of quotes for new mechanical assembly programs using multiphase optimization strategies methods and Design for Assembly (DFA)
- Safely supports pre-production and new launch High Level Assembly (HLA) builds as needed and provides DFM/A feedback to customers/design team
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and/or equivalent work experience and training in an Industrial Engineering role in a volume manufacturing environment is required
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience working in an Industrial Engineering position strongly preferred
- Experience using MOST or MODE APTS strongly preferred, or similar types of programs
Qualifications
- Operator and machine balance studies and Manpower planning
- Capacity planning, Lean Manufacturing concepts, development of ISO compliant documentation and Kaizen
- Capital expenditures estimating and justification
- Use of standard work developing tools, time studies and simulations
- Product flow mapping and material presentation layouts
Skills
- Strong Communication Skills both verbal and written
- Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of software packages, such as MS Office and AutoCAD
- Strong analytical, interpretive and problem resolution skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with tight, rapidly changing deadlines
