About the Role

Intermountain Electronics (IE) is a leading provider and manufacturer of custom engineered Process, Electrical Control and Power Distribution turn-key solutions to the Data Center, Industrial, Power/Utility, Oil & Gas, Mining industries in North America. Our products range from large scale one-off custom Power Distribution, Control and Process systems to standard off-the-shelf electronic/electro-mechanical components. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, we are currently seeking an Industrial Engineer for our Day Shift to be based at our Denver facility.

Position Summary

An Industrial Engineer is responsible for improving systems, processes, and workflows to increase efficiency, reduce costs, enhance quality, and optimize the use of people, materials, equipment, and information.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze production processes, workflows, and operational systems to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Design and implement efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct time studies, work measurements, and capacity planning.
  • Develop and optimize facility layouts, production lines, and material flow.
  • Improve productivity using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Analyze production data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational improvements.
  • Reduce waste, improve quality, and minimize production costs.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and engineering teams.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support new process validation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with process mapping, value stream mapping, and workflow analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and quality tools (SPC, FMEA, DOE).
  • Project management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, or operations (requirements vary by employer).
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is often preferred.

Schedule

  • Monday- Friday, 8am- 4:30 pm
  • Must be able to work a 40-hour work week and additional hours as required

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Peripheral vision, Color Vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to walk and sit. Must be able to perform frequent heavy lifting and continual bending and standing on a concrete floor.
