We are looking for a talented Industrial Engineer to join our team in Rocky Mount, NC. In this hands-on role, you will design, improve, and install integrated manufacturing systems that bring together people, materials, equipment, and information to keep engine assembly running safely and efficiently.

About the role

You will own process documentation, standard work, and PFMEAs while applying Lean tools, Kaizen, and Six Sigma methods to cut cycle time, labor, and material-handling cost. Using AutoCAD and layout/simulation software alongside strong data-analysis skills, you will model processes, optimize plant layout and space utilization, and support Value Stream Mapping and new line introductions. Success means turning production data into practical, validated improvements that raise productivity and quality across the operation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain process documentation, standard work, and PFMEAs that keep engine assembly consistent and audit-ready.
  • Optimize plant layout and space utilization to improve flow and make the best use of available floor space.
  • Lead Value Stream Mapping and transformation projects that expose and eliminate waste across production.
  • Deliver cost-reduction projects spanning labor, material handling, and cycle time to strengthen operational margins.
  • Drive Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma initiatives that lift productivity and build a lasting continuous-improvement culture.
  • Support new product and line introductions, validating processes before they scale to full production.
  • Design safe, ergonomic workstations that reduce injury risk and improve operator effectiveness.
  • Analyze make-vs-buy decisions with sound data to guide component and sub-assembly sourcing.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools and continuous-improvement methodologies such as Kaizen and Six Sigma.
  • Hands-on familiarity with AutoCAD or similar layout tools and manufacturing simulation software.
  • Proficiency with data-analysis tools to translate production data into decisions and measurable improvements.
  • Ability to manage multiple process and cost-reduction projects at once in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing or operations environment (automotive preferred).

Skills

  • Communicates Effectively: Tailors clear, multi-mode communication to the needs of different audiences across the plant floor and project teams.
  • Collaborates: Builds partnerships and works across functions to meet shared operational objectives.
  • Continuous Process Improvement: Spots improvement opportunities and applies waste-reduction methods to lower cost and raise quality.
  • Health and Safety Fundamentals: Models proactive safety behaviors and contributes to an injury-free, interdependent culture.
  • Values Differences: Recognizes the value that different perspectives and backgrounds bring to the team.
