Boise Cascade is seeking an onsite Industrial Engineer in Kettle Falls, WA to evaluate and improve plant performance in safety, quality, production output, and operating cost.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and improve plant performance in safety, quality, production output, and operating cost through research, experiments, data gathering, and preliminary findings.
- Recommend improvements using the Boise Improvement Cycle.
- Conduct in-house engineering feasibility studies, system trials, cost estimates, capital project planning, design, scheduling, and installations to optimize equipment.
- Manage all aspects of capital projects.
- Collaborate with plant management and maintenance personnel to resolve production issues and ensure operating efficiencies.
- Demonstrate adaptability, problem anticipation, and data-driven innovative solutions.
- Maintain industry knowledge, standards, best practices, and technological advances for maximum efficiency.
- May oversee environmental programs, permits, audits, and administration.
- May provide engineering oversight for software development and functionality.
- Communicate effectively in individual and group settings, adjusting language to audience needs.
- Read and interpret CAD drawings and blueprints.
- Apply project management concepts, systems, and techniques.
- Act as a participative and influential team player to achieve production and organizational goals.
- Maintain sound judgment and stable performance under stress or opposition (e.g., time pressure, job ambiguity).
- Demonstrate strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.
- Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering, wood science, computer science, or business.
- Developmental role focused on applying education and experience to technical aspects of the business.
- Exposure to various facets of the business to develop an in-depth understanding of operations at the region or plant level.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Business, Engineering, or Wood Products (Natural Resources).
- 0-4 years of experience in a related job function.
- Ability to understand and apply mathematical calculations and concepts.
- Proficiency in various computer applications.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Experience in continuous manufacturing operations and knowledge of wood products recommended.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement tools, facilitation, troubleshooting, and process controls is a plus.
Pay
$52,000–$78,000 per year
