Position Summary
BJ’s Wholesale Club is seeking a highly analytical and results-oriented Industrial Engineer to support initiatives that drive measurable improvements in sales performance, labor productivity, and operational efficiency across our retail stores and digital channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and improve store and digital processes to increase sales conversion, basket size, and member retention.
- Conduct time and motion studies, develop labor standards, and recommend workflow improvements to increase throughput and reduce waste.
- Evaluate store operations including staffing models, checkout performance, inventory flow, merchandising execution, and fulfillment processes.
- Support optimization of digital order fulfillment, site/app workflows, and online purchase experience to reduce friction and improve efficiency.
- Use operational and member data to identify trends, root causes, and performance gaps.
- Build financial models and cost-benefit analyses to support recommendations and measure ROI.
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance speed, accuracy, and operational consistency.
- Partner with merchandising, marketing, IT, supply chain, and store operations teams to support execution of improvement initiatives.
- Track project milestones, measure KPI impact, and report progress to leadership.
- Support change management efforts and ensure successful implementation of process enhancements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 3–5+ years of experience in retail operations, supply chain, digital commerce, or consulting focused on process improvement.
- Experience in grocery, big-box, warehouse club, or omnichannel retail environments preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in SQL, Python, Excel, and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Familiarity with labor modeling, workforce management systems, and operational performance metrics.
- Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement frameworks (Green Belt preferred).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights.
- Able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel to store locations and distribution centers as needed.
