Industrial Electrician- Cranes and Coil Handling

Basic Job Functions

Nucor Steel West Virginia is seeking a Crane Electrical Maintenance Electrician who demonstrates high levels of honesty, integrity, and ownership in everything they do. The selected teammate will contribute to team success by safely performing preventive and corrective electrical maintenance on steel mill equipment and systems.

Job Responsibilities

• Propose and implement innovative solutions to challenges in the steelmaking process, with a focus on safety, reliability, quality, cost control, and project execution
• Perform electrical and electronic troubleshooting, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on industrial equipment and systems
• Read, interpret, and work from electrical and mechanical schematics
• Demonstrate knowledge of:
• Medium- and low-voltage electrical systems
• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
• Instrumentation and controls
• AC/DC variable frequency drives (VFDs)
• Motors and motor control systems
• Automatic coil handling
• Train teammates on new equipment installations and modifications to existing systems
• Work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and scheduled or unscheduled overtime, as required

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on industrial electrician experience
• Demonstrated working knowledge of fundamental electrical theory
• Proven ability to independently troubleshoot and repair 480V motors and motor control systems
• Prior experience working in a steel mill or heavy industrial environment (preferred)
• Associate (2-year) or Bachelor’s (4-year) degree in Electrical Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
• Experience working with crane and mill control systems, including Magnetek, Ace, Morgan, Danieli, and/or Siemens platforms (preferred)
• Experience working with automated industrial equipment and systems (preferred)

Pay

The pay range for this position is $111,935.72 to $142,890.80, which includes a full compensation package including a variable incentive during the construction phase and a potential for annual profit-sharing bonus. Applicants starting below the top of our salary range have the ability to progress to maximum pay through our comprehensive training and development program.
