Industrial Electrician (2nd Shift)

2nd Shift position from 2:00 pm to midnight, with consistent overtime of 10 hours per week.

About the role

This position is responsible for the general upkeep of all feed mill-related equipment, including conveyors, motors, VFDs, troubleshooting controls, working on automated packaging equipment, typical electrician duties (running wires, running conduit, upkeep on plant lighting, adding or deleting equipment), and any other tasks deemed necessary by management. The Maintenance Electrician will support production by redesigning, modifying, repairing, and installing electrical equipment in a fast-paced, high-quality pet food manufacturing facility. Requires knowledge of electrical control systems, whether PLC-based or simple relay logic.

Responsibilities

• Strong experience in at least two of the following: extrusion processes, high-speed packaging equipment, pneumatics, gearboxes, and pumps.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues and minor electrical issues.
• Utilize technical documentation (prints, manuals, specifications, etc.) to aid in troubleshooting.
• Perform root cause analysis to prevent failure recurrence.
• Develop, document, and perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Work as a team with all members of the Maintenance Department.
• Accomplish electrical repairs and troubleshooting on motors and VFDs.
• Apply knowledge and experience to independently improve maintenance techniques and operations.
• Research, develop, and document critical spare parts for equipment.

Requirements

• Able to lift 50 lbs. and work at heights of 40+ feet.
• Safety-conscious at all times.
• Proactive in identifying potential failures to prevent unplanned downtime.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with extruders or other food manufacturing equipment.
• Experience with the day-to-day operation of feed mills.
• Ability to MIG and TIG weld on various types of metals.
