Position Summary
Clark Nexsen, a JMT Company, seeks an Industrial Electrical Technical Designer III to join a dynamic team focused on delivering exceptional service to clients while making a meaningful impact on communities and the world through projects.
General Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of electrical engineering design (specifically power distribution) as a Senior or Lead Engineer, including Conceptual Studies, Program Requirements, Design Analyses, Calculations, Equipment selection and layout, and System selection and layout for industrial process design and site electrical utilities with minimal direction from supervising staff
- Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work for industrial process design electrical engineering services
- Provide oversight and coordination of electrical engineering projects and the electrical engineering portion of multi-discipline projects, and work with assigned Project Managers to meet client's budget, contract fees, goals, objectives, and deadlines
- Coordinate, supervise, and communicate all aspects of electrical design within multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that electrical design details integrate properly with all other disciplines represented on the design team
- Direct, supervise, train, and ensure quality control of electrical engineers, EIT’s, and designers
- Ensure staff compliance with quality control policies and procedures and provide electrical engineering QC reviews for other engineers and designers
- Prepare and supervise the preparation of accurate and complete electrical project programming, schematic designs, design development designs, and construction documents
- Perform and supervise electrical engineering support services during the bidding process, such as preparing addenda, amendments, and responding to RFI’s
- Perform and direct electrical engineering construction phase services including representing the firm on-site, answering RFI’s, reviewing shop drawings and preparing As-built drawings, etc. as directed
- Provide technical input to the engineering design such as value engineering and industry best practices
- Work with, respond to, and take direction from Project Managers and senior management
- Work independently with limited direction, but collaborate with other engineers and designers
- Mentor engineering staff to foster their professional development
- Actively support Company marketing and business development activities
- Establish and maintain positive client relationships
- Provide technical guidance to electrical staff
- Aid in developing new and/or revised processes and procedures
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Project Engineer, Design Manager, Project Managers, principals, and senior management
- Perform other duties as required
Project Responsibilities
- Perform Project Manager duties as assigned
- Serve in the role of Lead Project Engineer on projects as assigned
- Discipline design and documentation of industrial process electrical systems
- Develop discipline design approach and methodology
- Develop discipline project plan and production methodology
- Prepare accurate, complete, and code-compliant electrical drawings and specifications for schematic, design development, and construction document submittals
- Cookordination work product with other disciplines
- Review calculations and work products produced by electrical engineers and electrical EIT’s assigned to the project
- Review project drawings
- Prepare scope and fee proposals for the electrical portion of multi-discipline projects or single-discipline, electrical-only projects
- Development of project proposals, budgets, schedules, and reports
- Perform discipline QA/QC reviews on assigned projects
- Review and approve discipline code analysis
- Develop discipline specifications
- Respond to RFI’s, owner review comments, etc.
- Back-check discipline QC comments
- Adhere to project budget and schedule and monitor own performance relative to budget and schedule
- Potential travel up to 20%

- Proficient in discipline specific design software
Required Experience
- Graduate of an ABET-accredited 4, 5, or 6-year engineering program in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
- 7-18 years of significant design and practice experience in a leadership role with an Industrial firm, Electrical firm, MEP firm, or multi-discipline Architectural & Engineering firm with substantial knowledge of applicable codes and standards as well as electrical engineering experience in an industrial setting
Preferred Experience
- Active participation in IEEE, IES or other related professional organizations
- Strong experience in the design of power distribution, lighting, and communications systems
- 24-hour MSHA miner safety training
- Familiarity with MSHA standards and other related industrial process design parameters
- Design or construction experience in Design/Build and Engineering Procurement Construction project delivery methods
Working Conditions
- JMT offers a hybrid work schedule with the expectation of working in an office location at least three days per week or as needed to perform assigned duties
