About the role
The Industrial Department Manager is responsible for the successful implementation and completion of the following tasks, including but not limited to:
- Leading and growing a multidisciplinary industrial engineering department serving industrial, utility, renewable energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure clients.
- Directing department operations including staffing, quality, project, execution, safety, mentoring, client relationship, and financial performance.
- Guiding complex power, controls, instrumentation, automation, civil/structural, and multidisciplinary engineering programs from strategy through delivery.
- Developing standards, tools, processes, and execution practices that improve quality, consistency, efficiency, and client value.
- Partnering with office and corporate leadership to support business development, capture planning, proposals, and long-term growth.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate combines technical mastery with proven leadership experience and a passion for developing people with expertise including but not limited to:
- Extensive experience leading industrial engineering teams and large multidisciplinary projects.
- Strong technical background in industrial electrical, automation, power, instrumentation, or related engineering disciplines.
- Proven ability to build teams, mentor staff, and create a culture of accountability, safety, quality, and client service.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to manage budgets, schedules, utilization, risk, and client expectations.
- Executive-level communication skills and the confidence to represent ECI with clients, partners, and industry organizations.
Requirements
- BSEE, BSEET or MSEE preferred; BSME, BSMET or other degrees with significant heavy industrial controls and automation background will be considered.
- 10+ years direct experience in industrial automation or process control or combination of education and experience.
- P.E. required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organization and planning skills.
- Able to lead a team.
- A commitment to quality and accuracy.
- A willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules.
Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements: BSEE, BSEET or MSEE preferred; BSME, BSMET or other degrees with significant heavy industrial controls and automation background will be considered; 10+ years direct experience in industrial automation or process control or combination of education and experience; P.E. required; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and planning skills; ability to lead a team; commitment to quality and accuracy; and a willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules.
