About the role

Pillar Innovations is seeking an Industrial Controls Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process control and automation, with experience in PLC programming, HMI development, and software installations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide turn-key automated solutions specializing in PLC Programming, Human Machine Interface (HMI) Development, Software installations, with minimal electrical work.
  • Complete difficult troubleshooting for customers with some direction from Sr. and lead level personnel.
  • Support commissioning efforts for new projects and systems onsite at customer facilities.
  • Resolve operational problems related to current systems or new projects.
  • Ensure all relevant safety objectives are observed for all work completed.
  • Create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings.
  • Maintain accurate records and files according to quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Modify systems upon customer's request and document the amendments accordingly.
  • Work conditions include walking, reaching, climbing, kneeling, lifting up to 80 pounds unassisted.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be safety and customer-focused, without exception.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in process control and automation.
  • Familiar with reading and creating CAD drawings using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Strong working knowledge with Allen Bradley PLCs and RSLogix 5000,500.
  • Working experience and knowledge with HMI / OIT Development using Rockwell and/or Wonderware software platforms.
  • Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals.
  • Critical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills, able to work independently and in team environments.
  • Proactive, resourceful and highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment.
  • Able to balance multiple projects.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office productivity software.
  • Good understanding of mechanical principals is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Preferred if candidate has 80-hour underground certification within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Travel as required (25-50% at times) to support projects. Travel time is paid.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule and adjust to changing business needs to include possible work involving emergency call-out, extended hours and some out-of-town and overnight work.
  • Willingness to undergo a thorough background and drug screening process.
