About the role
Pillar Innovations is seeking an Industrial Controls Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process control and automation, with experience in PLC programming, HMI development, and software installations.
Responsibilities
- Provide turn-key automated solutions specializing in PLC Programming, Human Machine Interface (HMI) Development, Software installations, with minimal electrical work.
- Complete difficult troubleshooting for customers with some direction from Sr. and lead level personnel.
- Support commissioning efforts for new projects and systems onsite at customer facilities.
- Resolve operational problems related to current systems or new projects.
- Ensure all relevant safety objectives are observed for all work completed.
- Create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings.
- Maintain accurate records and files according to quality standards and customer requirements.
- Modify systems upon customer's request and document the amendments accordingly.
- Work conditions include walking, reaching, climbing, kneeling, lifting up to 80 pounds unassisted.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be safety and customer-focused, without exception.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of experience in process control and automation.
- Familiar with reading and creating CAD drawings using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Strong working knowledge with Allen Bradley PLCs and RSLogix 5000,500.
- Working experience and knowledge with HMI / OIT Development using Rockwell and/or Wonderware software platforms.
- Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals.
- Critical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills, able to work independently and in team environments.
- Proactive, resourceful and highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment.
- Able to balance multiple projects.
- Working knowledge of MS Office productivity software.
- Good understanding of mechanical principals is a plus.
Qualifications
- Preferred if candidate has 80-hour underground certification within the first 6 months of employment.
- Travel as required (25-50% at times) to support projects. Travel time is paid.
- Able to work a flexible schedule and adjust to changing business needs to include possible work involving emergency call-out, extended hours and some out-of-town and overnight work.
- Willingness to undergo a thorough background and drug screening process.
