Industrial Controls Engineer

Summary

ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, Hangar Large Application Door (HLAD) Industrial Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing systems that control large scale door systems. This role ensures smooth, efficient, and safe operation by optimizing system performance and integrating advanced technological solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop control systems for large scale door systems
• Conduct system testing and validation procedures
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements
• Troubleshoot and optimize existing control systems
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and operation manuals
• Ensure compliance with UL, other industry standards and safety regulations
• Maintain and update system performance
• Integrate new technologies into existing systems
• Commission and start-up of new equipment
• Provide technical support and expertise to other departments
• Analyze data from control systems to improve processes and efficiency
• Collaborate with purchasing, vendors, and suppliers for equipment and software purchases

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (experience in lieu of degree will be considered)
• Proven experience in controls engineering or a similar role
• Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of HMI systems
• Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Familiarity with industrial networking protocols and standards
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong project management skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in using CAD software for control system design
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Hands-on experience with automation and/or robotics
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance
