Industrial Coater – Labourer

Field Sandblaster/Coater role focused on blasting and coating piping and structural steel. Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values.

Project Details

  • Project Name: Mount Bracey Compressor Station
  • Nearest City: Prince George, B.C (Camp Project)
  • Shift: 14 Days on / 7 Days off
  • Travel pay: $400 per shift
  • Camp retention: $25 per day

Responsibilities

  • Blasting, painting, and coating material to required specifications
  • Troubleshooting issues with field sandblast unit, compressor, blastpot, hose, etc.
  • Selecting appropriate coating and mixing as per manufacturer specifications
  • Testing atmosphere and paint/coating thicknesses; completing required documentation
  • Holiday testing when required and filling out proper documentation
  • Completing jobs in a timely manner to meet set deadlines
  • Driving to and from various sites in a company vehicle
  • Coordinating with onsite client representatives
  • Working safely and maintaining a clean working environment
  • Cleaning equipment and performing routine maintenance

Requirements

  • CSTS 2020 or Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
  • Bear or Wildlife Awareness course
  • Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED (St. John Ambulance or Canadian Red Cross) or WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA 1)
  • WHMIS 2015 (Strike can provide during onboarding)
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods – TDG (Strike can provide during onboarding)
  • Fall Protection Training
  • Aerial Work Platform Training
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of directly related work experience operating various types of equipment
  • NACE Level 1 or 2 is preferred
  • Knowledgeable in conventional and airless spray applications

Skills

  • Safety-focused when it comes to people and equipment
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Experience troubleshooting issues in the field
  • Ability to work well in both independent and team environments
  • Manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
