Industrial Base & Production Economics Analyst, TS/SCI
About the role
The Industrial Base & Production Economics Analyst will support the development and implementation of cutting-edge initiatives to advance the mission. This role focuses on understanding and enabling the U.S. industrial base to rapidly scale production of critical capabilities, with emphasis on real-world constraints, cost, and speed.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of initiatives to advance the mission
- Understand and enable the U.S. industrial base to rapidly scale production of critical capabilities
- Analyze OEM and multi-tier supplier networks, including production throughput, bottlenecks, and cost structures
- Build and apply quantitative models of production systems (capacity, elasticity, scale-up vs. scale-out, mobilization timelines)
- Work with or support manufacturing operations, production environments, or industrial programs
- Synthesize technical, economic, and operational data into clear, decision-relevant insights
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing strategy, production systems analysis, industrial economics, supply chain analysis, or operations research
- Experience analyzing OEM and multi-tier supplier networks, including production throughput, bottlenecks, and cost structures
- Demonstrated ability to build and apply quantitative models of production systems (capacity, elasticity, scale-up vs. scale-out, mobilization timelines)
- Experience working with or supporting manufacturing operations, production environments, or industrial programs
- Strong ability to synthesize technical, economic, and operational data into clear, decision-relevant insights
Desired Capabilities and Characteristics
- Experience in high-volume or capital-intensive industries (automotive, semiconductors, electronics, aerospace, heavy machinery, logistics)
- Familiarity with factory modeling, discrete-event simulation, or supply chain risk analysis
- Experience mapping and analyzing complex supply chains, including identification of critical dependencies and constraints
- Experience with cost modeling, make/buy decisions, or capital expenditure planning
- Experience analyzing or planning for rapid scale-up, surge production, or time-constrained operations
- Experience working across government, industry, and public-private partnerships
- Ability to operate and make recommendations under uncertainty with incomplete or imperfect data
- Exposure to defense manufacturing, munitions, or DoW platforms preferred
- Understanding of industrial policy, reindustrialization, or supply chain resilience
- Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis/visualization tools
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Economics, or related field
Benefits
- Salary range for the position is $150,000 - $250,000 per year
