Summary/Objective

The Industrial Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, testing, and commissioning electrical and control systems, including associated instrumentation for industrial applications. Essential Functions/Accountabilities

  • Lead and manage assigned projects from initial conceptualization through completion, ensuring all objectives are met.
  • Assess and evaluate project requirements, including timelines, resources, costs, and technical needs.
  • Manage and fulfill hardware and software work requests from internal and external customers.
  • Create and modify SCADA, PLC, HMI, and VFD programs as required, adhering to established guidelines, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Create and modify documentation such as description of system operation, O&M Manuals, Factory and Site Acceptance Tests, and Training.
  • Create system and software design specifications that meet customer requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed analyses and reports as needed.
  • Ensure effective information handoffs.
  • Perform electrical calculations for system sizing and component selection.
  • Perform FAT, installation supervision, SAT, customer training, and system commissioning for assigned projects and as required.
  • Work with designers to develop drawings and bills of materials.
  • Mentor personnel in your area of expertise, as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in engineering systems within applications such as pulp and paper, water/wastewater, food/beverage, packaging, or other industrial environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical control systems and related technologies.
  • Expertise with PLCs, HMIs, Drives, EIDs, and Instrumentation, with the ability to remotely troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
  • Proficient in control relay logic and electrical schematics.
  • Solid understanding of power distribution, motors, and motor controls.
  • Proficient in designing equipment to comply with UL-508a and NEC codes.

Desirable Experience

  • Allen Bradley and/or Schneider PLCs.
  • Yaskawa and/or WEG VFDs.
  • Working knowledge of EPlan.

Qualifications

  • Able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Willing to be on call and respond to customers.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Valid Passport or able to obtain one.
