Indirect Underwriter

Summary Of Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Indirect Underwriter to evaluate and approve loan applications originating from our indirect lending partners. Your expertise will help us maintain our commitment to responsible lending while ensuring a seamless experience for our members and dealer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, validate and review loan applications through indirect loan origination system.
• Analyze the loan application and accompanying documentation to evaluate risk and make appropriate decisions within authorized lending limits, asking additional questions when applicable.
• Ensure compliance within laws, policies and regulations set forth by government, state or the Credit Union are followed at all times.
• Exercise good judgment and decision-making skills using a methodical approach. Utilize resources to research unfamiliar underwriting situations and present complex scenarios concisely and with comprehensive options/solutions to leadership.
• Maintain professional working relationships with members, team members and dealers.
• Continually strive to improve underwriting and decision efficiency that improves response time without jeopardizing the integrity of the decision.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent, some college preferred.
• 2+ years of prior experience in indirect lending and underwriting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with members, colleagues, and external partners.
• Critical thinking skills and ability to act independently within guidelines.
• Reliable, motivated, and strong organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify any discrepancies and ensure accuracy in all documentation.
