General Responsibilities
- Oversight and management of the indirect tax function to ensure compliance with taxing authorities.
- Assessment of inefficiencies and risk associated with indirect tax function and advice on potential solutions and planning opportunities.
- Performance of managed sales and use tax audits.
- Effective management and utilization of third-party consultants, including assistance in external ad valorem compliance and audit teams.
- Evaluation and implementation of sales and use tax software.
- Preparation and filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns.
- Research to determine the taxability of acquired goods and services.
- Provision of exemption certificates to vendors and management of the exemption certificate process.
- Review and research relevant tax laws, regulations, and rulings to address tax compliance and audit issues.
- Drafting technical memoranda in support of technical positions.
- Processing and responding to various tax notices, contacting tax authorities when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of indirect tax experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Microsoft Office proficiency required (Excel and Word).
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Able to prioritize activities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Quorum and OpenInvoice accounting software experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
