Indirect Tax Analyst - Audit

As the Indirect Tax Analyst, you’ll support the ongoing management of indirect tax audits to help ensure compliance with state and local tax laws, mitigate risk, and identify refund opportunities. In this role, you’ll manage a portfolio of audits, analyze data, develop audit strategies, and partner with auditors and cross-functional teams to defend tax positions and achieve optimal outcomes. You’ll play a key role in resolving complex tax issues, communicating audit results, and driving continuous improvement across indirect tax processes. This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work on site Monday through Thursday at the Best Buy corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota. You can work virtually from home or another non‑Best Buy location on Friday. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process. What You’ll Do Obtain, validate, and analyze data to support tax audit defense and compliance activitiesManage a portfolio of indirect tax audits, including audit tracking, submissions, and workpaper reviewDevelop and implement audit strategies to defend tax positions and reduce assessmentsReview preliminary and final audit work papers, develop plans to reduce assessments, and provide recommendations to managementBuild and maintain relationships with tax auditors and communicate audit results to managementPartner with tax and business teams to mitigate risk, improve processes, and identify refund opportunitiesNegotiation of tax positions supported by factual and legal analysis Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field—or equivalent experience1 years of corporate tax, public accounting, or related experienceIntermediate Microsoft Excel and Word skillsStrong analytical, organizational, and investigative skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications Advanced experience with Oracle, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Tax Software such as VertexExperience with sales, use, or excise tax in a retail environmentExperience with data and analytics tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, Power Apps, or TableauExperience managing indirect tax audits and auditor relationshipsKnowledge of state and local indirect tax regulations What’s In It For You We’re committed to helping our people thrive at work and at home.
